Financial Independence

What Does That Look Like For You?

When you(c) Can Stock Photo_Financial Independence’re picturing in your mind that one day you will have financial independence, what does that look like?

Are you picturing stacks of money with the bank wrapper still on them? Does financial independence mean that you can travel wherever and whenever you want? Or, does it mean doing what you want to do without worrying about it?

Financial independence might mean early retirement. You planned ahead for years, banked your raises, did well in the stock market, and worked a job with a good pension. Now you have the freedom to do what you want. So, what are you going to do with all that spare time? More on that later.

Maybe you’re midway through your career and looking forward to financial independence by the end of your career.  But, does your plan depend on someone else’s plan? Or, someone else’s efforts? Life Happens. You can have the best plan in the world, but when something outside of your control happens (illness, fire, bad judgment, boomerang kids, bad investments, etc.), do you have a recovery plan?  Many people who check out franchises are looking for their own financial independence. And the reason a franchise is the way to go is because you are getting a winning playbook. It has already proven it’s success and therefore it’s worth.

There’s an old saying, “Two can live as cheap as one, but not as long.” As a couple, you both need to be working toward the goal of financial independence. It’s very difficult to reach that goal if one of you is a saver and one of you is a spendthrift or shopper or hoarder. (Trust me, it’s more common than you think.) Boundaries and expectations need to be set and adhered to.

So, once you have your financial independence and you no longer dread opening up your mail, you are on the path to your next adventure. What do you want to do with your time? Volunteer with a service organization, coach the next generation of athletes, or own your own business? Many people who check out franchises are looking for their own financial independence. And the reason a franchise is the way to go is because you are getting a winning playbook. It has already proven it’s success and therefore it’s worth.
